A.I

Raphaël Frydman is a filmmaker exploring how artificial intelligence can expand the language of cinema.

After twenty-five years behind the camera, he approaches AI not as a replacement, but as a new instrument; one more tool in a filmmaker’s evolving arsenal.

Through I.ARSHAV, the AI-driven branch of his studio, Frydman develops both full-AI and hybrid films, combining real footage and generative imagery.
He has directed AI commercial projects, and hybrid productions blending live-action and synthetic visuals.
He also co-directed a full-AI commercial film with Jean-Pierre Jeunet, reflecting on how machine-generated aesthetics can merge with cinematic storytelling.

His expertise is increasingly sought after by directors, producers, and broadcasters aiming to integrate AI imagery into film, documentary, and advertising.

As a lecturer and speaker, he regularly contributes to public debates on AI and cinema, at the BnF (Culture et Cinéma), Festival Nouvelle Vague, Beaux-Arts Magazine’s “Avenir du Cinéma”, and film schools such as ESRA and EFAP.

In parallel, he collaborates with MK2, the iconic French film company, to build MK2 LAB, a creative and research initiative dedicated to exploring new cinematic technologies and ethical frameworks for the industry.

Beyond creation, Frydman reflects on the ethical, ecological, and authorship questions raised by artificial intelligence.
He advocates for learning through practice rather than standing at a distance, mastering the technology to understand and question it from within.

“AI is not a shortcut. Like a martial art, it’s something I need to master to stay free.”
