STORIES

Raphaël Frydman is a filmmaker who writes.
For him, writing is not separate from directing; it’s the first movement of a film, the moment when images take shape in words.

Trained in Paris and New York, Frydman has developed and written scripts for features, shorts, and hybrid projects, exploring tone, rhythm, and character with the same attention he brings to image and sound.
He is the author of L’Échelle de Richter, a graphic novel published by Gallimard and illustrated by Luc Desportes, which extends his storytelling practice into the world of drawing and narrative form.

Beyond his own work, he often collaborates with writers, artists, and producers during early stages of development — helping to refine story structures, define cinematic tone, or translate concepts into visual potential.
His approach to writing is instinctive yet structured, combining cinematic intuition with the discipline of craft.
